چکیده
Cold-Formed Steel sections are commonly used in residential and commercial buildings as purlins, side girts, portal frames moment resisting frames. The bolted connections can be connect the different structural components of these together. These allowing transfer internal forces structures such axial forces, shear bending moments torsion. main objective this paper is to study numerically behavior apex connection for cold formed sections. deflection stress distribution at critical unstiffened 2C (double back-to-back) CFS were investigated two cases, first case connecting single gusset plate was used, while second double plates with cutting compression flange used. A finite element modeling developed by using ANSYS workbench v19.2 code simulate cold-formed steel considered beams had span lengths 4000 mm nominal web depths 150 mm. wall thickness 2.0 validation numerical model experimental results executed. Parametric concerning thickness, no bolts pretension presented. Based on analysis deflections ultimate failure load modes specimens studied

Simulation of conventional cold-formed steel sections formed from Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS)
The objective of this paper is to explore the potential impact of the use of advanced high strength steel (AHSS) to form traditional cold-formed steel structural members. In this study, shell finite element models are constructed, and geometric and material nonlinear collapse analysis performed, on simulated lipped channel cross-section cold-formed steel members roll-formed from AHSS. AHSS shee...
متن کاملNumerical study of slotted web drilled flange moment frame connection
Beam connections with reduced drilled section and slotted web have been presented after the Northridge earthquake (1994). Their new geometrical shapes have been resulted in weakening of beams and subsequently the bette rperformance of connections in the earthquakes. In this research, the advantages of both connections, mentioned above, have been studied in the Slotted Web Drilled Flange (SWDF) ...
متن کاملComparative Study on Distortional Buckling Strength of Cold-Formed Steel Lipped Channel Sections
Usage of cold formed steel structural components for buildings and structures is gaining popularity in India for a decade. Hot rolled steel member behaviour and design are well developed, whereas the cold formed steel member behaviour and design is not developed fully compared to the rest of the world. The Indian code for cold-formed steel design, IS 801 was revised during 1975, which is in lin...
متن کاملOn Cold-Formed Steel Construction
Powder-actuated (also referred to as low velocity or powder-driven) fasteners are commonly used to attach cold-formed steel framing members, usually a track, to a concrete or structural steel support. Although commonly used, their behavior is less well understood than other fasteners such as screws, bolts and welds. The AISI Cold-Formed Steel Design Manual does not explicitly address powder act...
متن کاملComputational Modeling of Cold-formed Steel
The objective of this paper is to summarize recent research and experiences with computational modeling of cold-formed steel conducted within the author’s research group at Johns Hopkins University. This admittedly biased view of computational modeling focuses primarily on the use of the semi-analytical finite strip method and collapse modeling using shell finite elements. Issues addressed incl...
